The 2024 Robert Biale Vineyards Black Chicken Zinfandel opens with bramble, plum and bay leaf aromas. Blackberry, orange peel, pomegranate, thyme and warm baking spice follow across a lively, expansive palate, while balanced acidity and fine-grained tannins carry the wine into a long finish.
Black Chicken is the winery's flagship Napa Valley Zinfandel, with a history that reaches back to Aldo Biale's use of the name as a telephone code for family-made wine. Today's bottling is centered on the estate's Oak Knoll District vineyard and includes fruit from neighboring Napa Valley sites.
