This week I carved jewelry boxes and the space bet

This week I carved jewelry boxes and the space between my thumb and forefinger. 😅 I've never cut myself working with the exacto blade—a few times a metal rib got me after throwing for a long time (skin gets soft and I get tired and clumsy). This time I was scraping reclaim off a drying board with a paint scraper and... I'm actually not sure how I managed it. Anyway it's healing well so far and I'm up to date on my tetanus shot so 🤞🏻. And the boxes are turning out really nice #chefskiss

I'm still figuring out moisture management in the new studio. Turns out that a garage with no climate control beyond opening and shutting the door is wildly different from a 10x10' room in a basement with one little window. Whoda thunk? 😅 I threw these bowls and the tops dried SO FAST (I didn't want to mess with wrapping just the tops in plastic) so I had to trim the bottoms when they were still super wet. Sticky but it works!

Feelin' good about these 2-lb bowls.

Big bowls (6-lb or more) are on my s*** list. I made several in June, but the weather was so hot and dry they dried too fast and cracked all around the foot ring... after I'd spent hours carving of course. I'll give big bowls another shot after I finish these lil ones. The weather is supposed to be cool and humid this week 🤞🏻

Holy moly @desmoinesartsfestival y'all have outdone yourselves. Des Moines, you bought just about every pot I brought with me. This photo was taken midday on Sunday and there was even less left by closing time. I'm going to have to cancel Krasl because I don't have enough work left to make it worth the trip. And I'm going to have to bust my butt to finish an existing wholesale order and make work for Oconomowoc in August. Seriously, I'm speechless. It was BY FAR the best show I've ever had. After the dumpster fire of the last 15 months....I needed this. Thank you. Thank you so much 🙇‍♀️💓

Des Moines Arts Festival goes until 10pm today, 11am to 10pm Saturday, and 11am to 5pm Sunday. It's been so long since I've done a show I don't feel like I know what I'm doing 🤣
